ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF WESTERN HERBAL MEDICINE
(HLT60107)
Course Overview
This innovative course is aimed at providing thorough insight into all the essential aspects of western herbal medicine treatment on a sound basis of Biological Sciences, and intensive training in Western Herbal Medicine. This course will equip our graduate herbalists in the guidance of patients to an optimum state of health and well-being.
This course, which can be studied in conjunction with Naturopathy, will allow graduates to set up their own clinic, or work within an established practice as a qualified Herbalist.
Graduate Skills
Our extensive herbal medicine course looks at the morphology, actions and medicinal uses of many herbs. Students will spend a semester studying exotic and unusual herbs, ensuring they graduate with a thorough understanding of herbs from different cultures, including Chinese, Ayurvedic and Aboriginal amongst others. Students will attain a thorough understanding of herbal indications and contra-indications and learn how to assimilate herbal treatment protocols that are relevant to each particular case.
Electives
Two electives are required to be completed during the course; these include a diverse selection, such as Bach Flower Remedies, Iridology and Fertility Management (elective/short course brochures are available on request). We are responsive to your needs, and will be offering additional electives as we identify your keenest areas of interest; however exemptions will not be given for electives (electives may vary from provider to provider).
Clinical Experience
To successfully complete the Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine, and to satisfy the practical aspects of this course, participation is required for a minimum of 400 log book hours. Most of these hours will be accrued within the Student Clinic, where you will have the opportunity to apply your skills in a real environment, with the reassurance of direct supervision by qualified practitioners.
