Take the first steps towards your career in massage therapy

At first glance, attending a holistic massage therapy school may seem like a lot of effort just to give a massage. However, there is a lot more to massage therapy than meets the eye, which is why undertaking the right course is critical to making any progress in your career in massage therapy.

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy involves the manipulation of soft body tissues to remedy or improve a person’s health and wellness. There are a wide array of techniques and methods of massage therapy to be mastered. When applied correctly, massage therapy can:

  • Reduce pain and anxiety
  • Alleviate cancer-related fatigue
  • Help sleep disorders
  • Reduce high blood pressure
  • Assist with diabetes, lower back pain and depression
The difference between the Diploma of Remedial Massage and Certificate IV in Massage Therapy

The Remedial Massage Diploma offers not only the aforementioned introductory nutrition module but also delivers the graduate with a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy – this qualification is nested within the Diploma, so the published cost of tuition fees includes both qualifications. This makes the Remedial Massage Diploma the value for money option depending on your budget, offering a skill set of more advanced techniques.

Course Overview

This tactile course in massage therapy provides a solid foundation, equipping the graduate remedial massage therapist with advanced skills in a diverse range of therapeutic massage techniques, based on biological sciences, and intensive training in massage – students will be trained to treat a wide range of injuries for a wide range of clients using Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy and Muscle Energy Technique. An introductory nutrition module is also part of this course, to enable graduates to assess their clients’ nutrition and dietary status. This course provides the opportunity for students to attain practical skills within a professional clinic environment.

Graduate Outcomes

The graduate remedial therapist will be able to perform a basic Swedish massage plus employ various other therapeutic massage techniques to provide comprehensive treatment plans for positive outcomes.

Upon completion of your 18 month Diploma of Remedial Massage, you will be equipped to practise remedial massage in your own professional clinic or work with other allied professionals in a natural health care centre, with eligibility to apply for membership of peak professional associations, including the Australian Natural Therapists Association and the Association of Massage Therapists, to become eligible for professional insurances. Diploma graduates are then practitioner ready and eligible for Provider status with major Health Funds to provide health fund rebates. This could see you working anywhere in Australia as well as many other countries throughout the world that are keen to employ Australian massage therapists.
