This tactile course equips the massage therapist to provide basic relaxation massage. Students will gain practical experience working within a natural therapy clinic, and be able to provide basic relaxation massage techniques to patients, guiding them to a state of optimal health and well-being. The Certificate IV in Massage Therapy is embedded in and flows naturally onto the Diploma of Remedial Massage.
The graduate massage therapist will be able to perform a basic Swedish massage. Upon completion of your 6-month Certificate IV in Massage Therapy, you will be equipped to practice Swedish massage in a professional clinic or work with others in a natural health care centre, with eligibility to apply for recognition by peak professional associations, such as the Australian Association of Massage Therapists, to become eligible for professional insurances. This could see you working anywhere in Australia, and many countries throughout the world are keen to employ Australian massage therapists!
To complete the Certificate IV in Massage, and to satisfy the practical aspects of this course, you must also participate in a minimum of 80 log book hours. Most of these hours will be accrued within the Student Clinic, where you will have the opportunity to apply your skills in a real environment, with the reassurance of direct supervision by qualified practitioners.
Completion of ‘Provide first aid’ (HLTAID003) is required prior to admittance into Clinical Practice (student clinic); currency must be maintained whilst in student clinic and in order to graduate. ‘Provide first aid’ (HLTAID003) must be done externally as Paramount College does not offer it as part of their study programme.
There are no additional electives required to complete the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy
