Paramount Colleges comprehensive Western Herbal Medicine courses, both the Bachelor Western Herbal Medicine and Western Herbal Medicine Diploma provide the graduate Herbalist with the necessary skills in a range of natural therapy treatments, based on Biological Sciences, Herbal Medicine & Nutrition. This qualification in Natural Medicine ensures that the Herbal Medicine course graduates demonstrate a broad range of knowledge and skills to be able to analyse a client’s health status, including current medical treatments. Based on this assessment graduates can formulate and negotiate compatible, highly customised treatment protocols for health management.
Upon completion of the Herbal Medicine course, the Bachelor or Herbal Medicine Diploma graduate will be equipped to practice autonomously in their own professional clinic or work within an established health care practice. They will be capable of integrating specialised herbal medicine and nutrition, with eligibility for professional registration, ensuring their professional status within the industry.
To enhance their learning and accommodate personal student preferences, all herbal medicine course students are required to complete a minimum of 2 electives from across the institution’s full range of subject offerings of 4 or more credit points. The points associated with these electives cannot be substituted for required units for this qualification, but will provide credit points towards further qualifications.
Student interns of herbalist courses are required to participate in a minimum of 408 clinical practicum hours. This structured programme provides a vehicle through which the intern can apply their knowledge and skills in a supervised environment, much as other health care professionals are required to do. The supervision of qualified practitioners provides reassurance to the intern, while the experience itself builds confidence as the student prepares to graduate from the Western herbal Medicine course.
